| Questions: How can I have a baby shower, when all my friends and family live out I am a bit sad. I'm only 14 weeks, 4 days. But I am growing anxious about my anticipated baby shower. I'm due July 2nd, but want the shower in late May or very early June. The problem is--I live in Atlanta, GA. All my family and friends, live everywhere from Connecticut, California, Chicago, D.C., Delaware, Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina and Kentucky. Thankfully, my parents and older brother do live here in Atlanta but that's it, with the exception of one co-worker I would invite. I am almost dreading sending the invites, only to get "Sorry can't make it" responses. And I know people can mail your gifts, but I wanted the personal interaction and celebration of an actual shower. The other obstacle would be accommodations. I already hate that I have to ask people to spend money to BUY gifts and travel, but because I am temporally living with my parents--I don't have anywhere to house everyone. And people wouldn't come for just a day. So, now I would be asking for them to arrange for hotels too. I know my closest family would stay here, but we have limited space. How do you have a shower when you're out of state to everyone? And how soon do you send invites or save the dates? And what is proper etiquette or incentive for people to come? |
