| Article: The National September 11 Memorial & Museum The sound of water flowing amidst the deafening silence can easily put a person in a state calm, reflection, and meditation. In the busy scheme of life that we are all leading, going to a place where there is complete silence except for running water is both relaxing and thoughtful. This is what Israeli-American architect Michael Arad wanted to achieve when he designed the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, which was formally opened to the public a day after the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
