| Answers: I want a destination wedding but....? My dad (yes my dad) wants me and my fiance to have a semi-big traditional wedding at our hometown. We live in New Jersey. My parents say they would pay for the venue and we pay for the florists, DJ, limo, etc which we still don't have that kind of money for all that either (we calculated it and it was a pretty big amount). My mother tells me do what makes us happy and supports the idea of the destination wedding (and I also know they can really use that money due to help their financial circumstance but because since I'm the 1st born and only daughter, they would do it) but I don't want them to and I would like something more intimate. I told them I would rent a hall or throw some type of party when we come back but my father doesn't want me to and thinks it's a "dumb" idea. Plus I told them I would want (the very most) just them, my fiance parents, and maybe 5 to 8 other guests if they are able to come..but he still doesn't like the idea. Urgh!!!! My fiance and I really want to do it this way but how can I get him to realize this is what I want without making him upset at me??? |
