In any part of the world, transport is a necessity and convenience. The economic liberation of the 1990s enabled the infrastructure in India to grow at a rapid rate. Nowadays, there is a wide variety of transport by land, water and air. The low GDP has not ensured that the access is uniform(just like in many other developing countries).
Public transport is the option for most Indians. India's is among the world's heavily utilised public transport systems.
