But sometimes being a victim is not always your cause or fault, Guatemala is a good example of this, unfortunatley assaults are more common than we think.In Guatemala we all know it can be risky in certain areas and at certain times, but what we cant prevent is assaults on Mini Buses or assaults when you are confronted with a Gun. In these cases your only option is to surrender your property. guatemala is a Beatiful country and for most people that come it is safe and wonderful experience. | Yes, "one tough dude" is it. I've traveled and lived in Central and South America and fortunately never had some of his experiences. I've always found the people to be great and excited to meet an American. In Colombia most ask if you are Canadian as Americans aren't as common. But I've always been treated well. The U.S. Consulate in Barranquilla, Colombia had exactly two people in it, a Colombian Policeman Sitting Guard and the U.S. Consol. Further South us "Americans" blend in as there is more of a European influnce and many of the latins look "whiter" than us. So in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay you don't stick out like a sore thumb. |
