Safety (ha!) in the Dominican RepublicThe Dominican Republic used to be a really safe place. During the Trujillo years (there must have been something good about the guy) it was said that you could sleep with your front door open and still be safe.Afetrwards things changed. They changed little by little. A milestone was when the Senator was killed by a gang of roving thugs that were supposed to be in jail for, yes, murder! Since then things have really started getting hot. All of this is just to say, be careful! All, you have is to read the paper every day and count the bodies (dead) from the day before. They say itīs drugs...well, it could be. Doesnīt matter whose finger pulls the trigger! |
