Chinese Zodiac--2009 Year of Ox

Thank author of this post/commentThe Chinese Zodiac began in the 6th century AD and is still practiced today. According to Chinese belief, those people born in a certain year are strongly influenced by the characteristics of the corresponding animal. In the Chinese zodiac, each successive year is named for one of 12 animals. These 12 year cycles are continuously repeated and combined with a sequence of the five elements (water, wood, fire, metal, earth) in a 60 year major cycle. For the detailed information of your own animal, you can contact us info@china-tour.cn

Is the chinese zodiac at all similar to the america zodic? I would like to know some more information on the chinese zodiac and maybe do a paper on it in school.

Of course the Chinese Zodiac is a lot more different than the American Zodiac. Try researching both the American and Chinese Zodiac over at Wikipedia, and from there try expanding your research to other websites.

Going back to Chinese Zodiac stories, did you know that besides the twelve chosen twelve animals to represent each year. There was another animal which was supposed to be included but because of being late the animal wasn't able to be there. To know the story you can visit this link I've stumbled over the internet:
