| Are Wifi sites safe for my laptop?I was just curious to know whether or not it is unsafe to use Wifi for my laptop when I am away from my office and using internet wirelessly. Can other people have access to what I am viewing or see my files since are on a common network? |
| I have been usually surfing the world wide web through different wifi hot spots here and so far I haven't been "attacked". I think you will not be open to cyber attacks like virus or hacking attacks as long as you safely browse the cyberspace and your mobile device is protected by trusted anti-spyware, anti-adware, or any anti-virus programs. You are merely accessing the node to access the internet you are not actually sharing your files or folder to them, not unless a hacker is close by but it would still take a good hacker to hack his way through someone's laptop. |
| I would also say there is really no danger in accessing the net through a wifi hotspot but to guard against any sort of threats, try securing your private information. Like it has been suggested before, keep updating the security programs. As of 2007, Wifi installations were said to provide a secure gateway. That would still be the case presently.
